Untitled Document

The City of San José’s, Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) has provided recreation, education, and community services to enrich the quality of life for individuals with disabilities since 1972.

Therapeutic Recreation Services focuses on abilities, rather than disabilities. Our programs aim to:

  • Enhance independence
  • Improve social skills
  • Increase self-esteem
  • Connect people and families with community resources
  • Provide opportunities to contribute to society
  • Promote community integration

Therapeutic Recreation Services is divided into three major service areas: All Access Sports and Recreation, Grace Community Center and Inclusion Support Services

All Access Sports and Recreation (AASR) offers programs for children and adults with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities. Among these are wheelchair sports programs, cosponsored with Far West Wheelchair Athletic Association. Our wheelchair sports programs practice weekly, and provide regional and national competitions, clinics, and camps.
