Senter Road Safety Study

In May 2015, San José became the fourth city in the nation to adopt a Vision Zero transportation safety initiative. Vision Zero aims to end fatalities and reduce severe injuries caused by traffic collisions.

Senter Road was identified as a Vision Zero Priority Safety Corridor because of the consistently high number of severe and fatal crashes that occur there. The Senter Road Safety Study, beginning August 2019, is an important step to address those troubling statistics. The study will focus on increasing safety and comfort for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and drivers traveling on Senter Road.

For the next eight months, we will work with the community and local organizations to help make Senter Road, from Tully Road to Monterey Road, a safer place to travel. We invite you to be part of this process! We will update this webpage regularly with information about upcoming events and milestones, like a walking tour of the corridor, public workshop, and draft plan updates.

For questions about the study, or to be added to the email list, please contact Vu Dao at or 408-975-3712.
